Boss Tangtokit

Hey! My name is Boss and I would like to be the communications officer for next year. Although, I have not met everyone in society yet. I would like to take this opportunity to show you exactly why I would make for a great officer! As somebody who loves hiking and reaching out to people, I understand the responsibility my position hold and I hope I can contribute to making our community even friendlier and livelier than ever before.

My main objective as a communication officer would be to enhance communication, alignment between staff and students as well as increase member participation. I have seen some of our training sessions not as efficient as they should be due to the lack of students attending the classes. Also, I have the experience of being a class rep and leading group projects, I have become accustomed to presenting myself to the members and am fully aware of the work required to ensure effective communication and delivery. In the past, I had encountered many interesting situations. One of which is rearranging my class trip due to a sudden heavy rain; a solution that fits into everybody's interest and I feel that this is a skill that takes a while to develop and would be of great use in a situation like this.  Whether I become an officer or not, I look forward to fun and hiking sessions at UCL and I thank you in advance for your support and consideration.

Wei Ting Chua

Hi everyone, my name is Wei Ting and I'm a first-year Law student! As the 2022/23 Communications Officer, my main goal is to increase engagement and participation in UCL Hiking events through publicising events on Instagram, Facebook and Discord (I also hope to start a Telegram group, which can accommodate more participants than Whatsapp). Even before matriculating, I found out about UCL Hiking on Instagram. UCL Hiking has since become an integral part of my student life and I hope to share my love for hiking through exciting both freshers and current students about hiking and the society as a whole.

From managing the Instagram, Facebook and Telegram channels as the Head of Content for the United Kingdom Law Students' Society and gaining 700 followers in a month for a local cafe's Instagram account to creating content on my food photography account (@weitingforfood), I believe that my varied experiences have empowered me with an understanding of how to diversify reach, generate enthusiasm and effectively engage both members and potential members. With skills in newsletter design, photo-editing and content creation, I am creative and highly organised, and would love to serve as UCL Hiking's Communications Officer. Open-minded and outgoing, I enjoy meeting new people - as the 2022/23 Communications Officer, I'm excited to encourage many more connections within the society through increasing participation from the student body. I'll be WeiTing for your vote!
