Gaming Society: Welfare Officer

I am a second year Psychology student who is passionate about online games, specifically CSGO and League of Legends.

As a current player for one of the CSGO teams, I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting other gamers and making new friends. To feel as you are part of the gaming community is very important, and as welfare officer I would like to ensure that individuals feel included and can have someone to talk to. 

I am a member of one of gaming society's Valorant teams and I have seen first hand the amount of fun and comfortable the gaming society community has made people feel both online and during in person events. Nevertheless, I have also seen how members of the society have had stress while balancing studies and gaming and how some have had less than positive experiences while gaming due to discrimination (ie. sexist and racist jokes). I want to become welfare officer so that I can help maintain the level of comfort the society has provided and to act as an extra ear for those who need it so that both old and new members of the society can enjoy themselves sharing their interest in games with fellow members.
