Jocelyn Shao

Hi, I am Jocelyn. Food soc is a very new society but it also has great potential. After all, who doesn't like food? As quoted on the Instagram "People who love to eat are always the best people"

As a Marketing and Publicity officer my goal would be to nurture society to reach its full potential by making us known. Firstly, we are active on both Facebook and Instagram, and let's keep it that way. Secondly, it might be useful to advertise us and our event more often within the uni. It could be collabing with a wide variety of society or hosting tasting sessions in the main quad etc. Personally, I knew this society from a collab with the francophone society so collabing would be my main focus in marketing.

Hi Food Society! I’m Miriam Gordon, a girl from Hong Kong who loves food so much that the first line of her UCAS personal statement included the words “my passion for food and a growing interest in psychology.” I’ve loved being part of Food Society this year, and getting to know the London food scene better. I am running to be one of your Marketing and Publicity Officers because I want to bring Food Society to more of UCL! In the past, I have..

  • Run the social media (instagram, twitter, facebook) for a gin company and increased engagement by 13% and helped them reach 1000 followers in a matter of months

  • Post on a food account (instagram.com/mimiseats) for almost 5 years where I’ve documented my food experiences and have even been invited for free food a couple of times

  • Recently ventured into TikTok and created food content, the latest Tiktok with 37k views

My goals are to expand the social media that Food Society uses, and collaborate with society members to create content that is fun for everyone. Additionally, I will create more incentives for society members to bring a friend along to our events so we can introduce more people to the world of food. If you want to learn more about my plans or have any questions, feel free to send me an email ([email protected])! I’m excited to (hopefully!) be one of your Marketing and Publicity Officers for next year <3
