I am very glad to be a part of the Fintech Society as a First Year Rep. In the upcoming year, I hope to contribute more to this community by running the VP of Quant Ventures.
With my longstanding interest in finance and experience as a Quant Researcher for UCLDSS, I am eager to help connect students who are interested in learning about quantitative finance and let the Fintech Society play a bigger role in facilitating their exploration of this exciting subject.
In this role, I will aim to organize programs that are engaging for members of all levels of experience. My biggest goal is to encourage students in the community to share their quant research and provide a platform to exhibit their works. I will also be working with the team in compiling a repository of basic algo-trading strategies and resources to help people who are interested in quant get started. In addition, I am hoping to invite industry partners to run related workshops and competitions so that our members have more opportunities to build their experience and explore quant careers.
I look forward to learning alongside our members and building a community to encourage each other on this journey!
With a background in programming and interest in financial computing, I will aim to provide all the society members (irrespective of their background and prior knowledge) a unique insight into the synergy that exists between finance and technology. After working as a First Year Representative in the Quant Ventures Department and gaining an insight into quantitative investing, I believe it is my time to take on the responsibility.
I believe in taking a proactive approach towards my goals. I will ensure that we all have a productive time next year using the following ideas:
- Hosting tutorial sessions for students who are passionate about and new to quantitative investing.
- Inviting speakers from reputed firms to share their knowledge and experience with the members of the society.
- Hosting an Algo-trading competition at the end of the year where students can showcase the skills they have gained through our tutorials.
Having spent half a decade in a boarding school, I am someone who values the learning process of an initiative more than anything else. Given my experience of working within the department and passion for Algo-trading, I will aim to make UCL Fintech Society a collaborative learning space where everyone who genuinely wishes to learn about the subject is able to gain hands-on experience with different projects.
If you see the future of this society as I do, vote for me! Feel free to email me any questions at [email protected]
Hi! I’m Rishi and I’m running for VP of Quant Ventures! I was initially drawn towards quantitative investing and algorithmic trading after completing a case study on the use of Blockchain technology in trading. As the Technology Correspondent for the FinTech Review, I was able to explore this interest further by writing an article on algorithmic trading and its impact on financial markets.
As such, I hope to share my interest in quantitative trading with students from all disciplines, not only mathematical backgrounds, through the following ideas:
Workshops – the best way to learn about quantitative trading is through practical experience! My focus will be working closely with Client Relations to encourage companies to fund trading simulations and weekly workshops that will allow students to learn how to build their own trading models.
Competitions – trading competitions will promote a fun way for students to apply the skills they have gained from these workshops, as well as meet students with similar interests.
Panels and speakers – quantitative trading is an increasingly popular career path! As such, I will work closely with Client Relations to source key quant traders that can give deeper insight into what their job entails, the interesting models they use, and their career path. This will give students a chance to network and ask any questions.
I look forward to developing a wider student-run Quant Venture Space as VP!
