Having taken part in several shows this year (class showcase and triple bill), I was able to see how the society is ran and the joy it brings to its members. I’d love to help it continue having such a positive impact on UCL students! I was also head of marketing in the student body in high school (handled Instagram account, sent out emails to promote events, and most importantly worked as part of a team of 8 to improve student life - useful skills for the P&D officer position:) Plus I’ll be more than happy to make time for tasks if elected !!
Hi everyone! I’m Tiffene, a first-year biology student. I believe I’m well-suited for the role of Publicity and Design Officer because of my extensive experience in visual art. I’ve had a passion for art and design since I was a toddler and I held a full visual art scholarship for 4 years during highschool. This allowed me to experiment with many styles and techniques, from digital media to painting, to fashion design. I would like to use my experience to bring a creative flair to the Dance Soc’s social media and merch designs. I have experience applying my design skills to Dance Soc’s publicity as during my time as the Freshers Rep this year, I helped out with operating the social media accounts when needed. I hope to let the talents of Dance Soc's amazing dancers shine through for everyone to see!
This year I also had the chance to learn what it means to be on the committee. I believe that my familiarity with committee duties and the production of a show would be helpful not only for my role as a Publicity and Design Officer but also for general responsibilities. Being part of Dance Soc is such a rewarding experience and I can’t wait to be a part of this supportive community again next year!
I am standing for this position as I feel it is something I am suited to. I have a passion for dance society, which I believe is reflected in my involvement with the shows this year, and I also have experience with graphic design and photoshop, which I feel is especially suited to this role. I have done digital art for just under 2 years, and elements of graphic design, including creating infographics and posters, for about 3 years. In terms of social media, I manage a relatively large personal platform on Instagram, as well as a separate baking account for which I create content. Both accounts are public and on business settings, so I have become quite proficient with the business management tools that Instagram in particular has to offer. For these reasons, I feel that I would be perfectly suited for this role
Hi! My name is Emma and I’d love to use my creativity to support the Dance Society as I’ve found it such a welcoming community in my first year! My main priorities would be designing general merchandise for all members, creating a wider range of competition merch, and getting the society’s incredible talent the recognition it deserves.
I’ve had extensive design experience, including 8 years of photography and Adobe Photoshop, 2 years of Canva, and 4 years of Adobe Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. I have produced material for multiple organisations, including animations, posters, promotional videos, and social media posts, so would love to do this for Dance Soc too!
In my first year, I’ve been involved in everything the society offers, attending weekly classes, being part of the tap competition team, dancing in every show and choreographing for Triple Bill. From all of this, I have gained a strong familiarity with the society’s events, so I would be very comfortable designing content for each of them. In addition, various leadership roles within UCL, such as being student rep and leading a changemakers project, have equipped me with great time-management and organisational skills applicable to this role.
Hello! My name is Dorothy, and I am a first year History of Art student from Hong Kong. Being so far away from home, I am so very grateful to have met so many wonderful and incredibly talented humans who share the same love for dance through Dance Soc events like Freshers Show, Blooms and weekly dance classes. I would love to be part of this society that has made my first year at UCL so amazing, so I have decided to run for Publicity and Design Officer this year!
With prior experience in designing social media posts, marketing materials and merchandise for my house, Junior Achievement club and student society in my high school, I am confident in design skills and with my love for dancing, I believe I will be a good fit for Publicity and Design Officer for Dance Soc. I am excited to continue building on Dance Soc’s social media presence and attract more students to be involved in the events, as well as designing pretty T-shirts and merch for everyone :))
Hi everyone, I’d love to be your next Publicity and Design Officer! Most of my highlights from my first year have been in Dance Soc and I’ve loved taking part in Freshers Show, Blooms and the competition team so I’d love to be even more involved next year!
I think I’d be perfect for this role as I have a lot of experience creating social media content. I have done an internship this year with a sustainable fashion company where I have been creating all Instagram and Facebook content, so I have lots of experience using graphic design tools like Canva, Procreate, Photoshop and Sketchpad.
I love drawing and I’m really creative. I also love sewing and make a lot of my own clothes as well as customise and paint on them, so helping to create merch for all the shows sounds like something I would be well suited to.
As the Publicity and Design officer, I would make sure that:
- information continues to be posted accessibly, especially for new members and freshers who will be less familiar with everything going on
- there is more behind the scenes of rehearsals posted online to publicise shows and get more people to come and watch everyone’s hard work
- there is a weekly Instagram update with the week’s Dance Soc highlights such as videos of full casts and class choreo so everyone can see what different members are getting up to as there’s always so many things going on at once!
