Here is Shaofeng or Travis, second year biochemical engineering student. The area I am studying includes biotechnology, engineering, management and mathematical modelling, which makes me gain very broad insight about the world. From this, I developed lots of versatile skills from my course and self-study as well like carrying out scientific research, use of programming tool like excel or Matlab to construct basic mathematical models and etc..
Also, I have been involved in some scientific research programs in my own time. These experience not only enhance my practical skills but also strongly improve my capability of working as a team.
Last but not least, I am strongly passionate and patient about the work and always thinking or learning differently, which could help me to play the role of general secretary successfully I believe.
I am a second year MEng Biochemical Engineering student and I would like to serve as the General Secretary in Crook Society ito help run the society and develop organisation, management, teamwork and communication skills in order to keep Crook up and running. From this position, I would have the opportunity to liase with student members and year representatives to bring positive change in the department, fix any scheduling issues and allow student voices to be heard and better represented and supported to the UCL Biochemical Engineering Department staff and facilitate better integration within the UCL Faculty of Enginneering Sciences. I have always been the kind of person behind the scene that made things happen and therefore I want to make sure Crook maintains its thriving position in the Students' Union (SU) UCL, receiving support from both UCL and SU, while also fostering and developing lasting partnerships with the other engineering student societies in the Engineering Coalition. I have realized the stark importance of industrial stakeholders in terms of bespoke career outreach, inspiration and student vacancies tailored to our magnificent student cohorts and therefore would like to intensify interdisciplinary collaborations that would benefit not only Crook members but also Engineering Coalition members collectively. I am looking forward to actively be part of a vibrant student community centered around biotechnology and lead its path in the coming academic year.
