Having really enjoyed my first year DJing for ems, I feel I could really help with future events. I would like to help out with DJ lessons to get more people club ready so that we can have people playing a wider range of genres and help chose lineups for events.
I believe electronic music takes a huge place in students party life in london, and the electronic music society of ucl should reflect that.
As a head of dj I want to encourage a diversification of music genres in the events as well as bring djs together for smaller sessions more often so as to cultivate a broader spectrum of djs that can actually perform.
The principal genres of music I mix and enjoy are mainly house garage and (hard)techno but I want all members to be able to share and discover new music.
I have mixed regularly for a bit over 3 years now and am starting to have a good enough level to hold a workshop, give tips and help beginners get started into mixing. On the same subject, I want to help create opportunities for beginners to perform, in smaller venues to allow less comfortable djs to play in front of an audience and build up confidence.
I have been part of the society for 2 years now and going into 3rd year I want to become more invested and work hand in hand with other elected members of the committee to shape the soc into what it should be : much bigger and active.
This year will be my last in the university and I am extremely motivated to make a difference and contribute to creating a space where djs can grow, share and throw ragers for us all to enjoy!!!
