Kai Sethna

Having only trained with UCL Muay Thai for a year, I’m not the most experienced, but definitely haven’t looked back since switching my rugby boots for a pair of gloves - I made sure I kept my mouthguard though!

This year I’m eager to join the committee and contribute to growing the club even further – hopefully I’ll get the chance to step into the ring for the first time during interclubs and even sooner supply everyone with the highly rumoured UCLMT wraps as your new gear sec😉

Alex Miyake

Dear members of UCL Muay Thai,

I’m sure you are all aware that this society is one of the largest in UCL and has among the best coaching and training atmosphere for those of all skill levels.

On the committee I can provide a wealth of knowledge, discipline and expertise to the role, which would be crucial for managing and maintaining the society’s equipment.

With my contribution, I can personally ensure all of you will be able to head kick your opponents into the shadow realm (R.I.P. Volk) faster than current Well-being Officer Ameera Bukhary gasses out in sparring (very fast I can assure you).

As gear secretary, I will do my everything in my outmost power to ensure the absolute and meticulous upkeep of the society’s pads, gloves and skipping ropes.

Matteo Larrode

Hi! I'm in my final year at UCL, and I'm planning to spend it training at Somers Town or sparring on campus every Sunday. I discovered the wonderful community of UCL Muay Thai this year, and I'd be super happy to contribute to it in the committee as gear sec.

In terms of my qualification for the role, I have a passion for carrying big bags between Somers Town and campus, so I should be a perfect fit! Count on me to make sure we always have all the gear we need to have the best trainings and sparring sessions.

Thanks for checking out my nomination, I look forward to seeing you at practice!

Naim Nabhan

I'm new to Muay Thai and have been enjoying it a lot. The current committee has been very welcoming, so I would love to take this opportunity to give back and help optimise the running of the club even more. The club has a great community, so it would be a pleasure and honor to contribute to it.

I believe I can bring consistency and reliability to be enjoyed by committee and club members. Having abilities to stay organised and plan ahead readies me for this role. I also have experience working with inventory and storage, something that I am now comfortable with. My drive to constantly optimise my work prepares me to deliver at a high standard as soon as possible.

I hope to be a trustworthy member who alleviates work from other committee members. Ensuring consistent equipment readiness, cleanliness, and adherence to high standards will be a priority of mine. I am also eager to help in different ways, not specifically ascribed to my role, to ensure the committee can offer its best. This would include organising collaborative events with other martial arts clubs such as BJJ, as I have strong connections there.

Please vote for me! I will strive to increase the Kit inventory to allow for more capacity, as I understand getting tickets can be tough. I will always be open and responsive to any questions or concerns from club members. These will be articulated with other committee members to ensure a better experience for everyone. Thank you very much for your time and consideration!

Ritwik Pain

I have enjoyed muay thai this year a lot and want to have a more active role within the club through committee by taking on the responsibility of gear sec. As gear sec I would ensure you all have your gear for sessions (and also put in a good word to get the broken pads replaced). Living near Somers Town Community Centre puts me in a prime location to house and bring the gear to you. Vote for me and you'll never have to worry about your kit again :)

Ishan Karurkar

Although I am new to UCL Muay Thai club, I would love to be your Gear Secretary for this year. With previous experience in Muay Thai & Boxing, I have realised the importance of good quality equipment when it comes to training and improving my skills. The gear is a fundamental part of this sport, and I hope that I can use my leadership experience to organise and ensure proper gear is accessible for all members to heighten their skills & increase participation. As your gear secretary, I would try to get higher quality pads & gloves, as well as propose to buy new equipment like hand wraps. Living next to Somers Town Community Centre, I am more than happy to hold equipment, so it is readily available for weekly sessions. Joining the club has shown me how much I love this sport - being a part of this committee would be an exciting and rewarding experience that I can learn from!!

Alan Seiya Chung

Hiya! I’m Seiya and I am running for the Muay Thai gear sec! I did Goju Ryu Karate for 7/8(ish) years (I didn’t compete in sports/Olympic form karate though) and I certainly have a few ideas for my potential role as gear secretary. For example, I think kick shields would be a great addition as height differences between pad holder and striker can make it difficult to kick with when learning to kick (as well as learning to put power in with lower risks to padholder) ^_^. I’d also love to try and solve the situation with the hygiene (at least the smell) on the shared gloves as best as I can o7
