Election post
I am Nadia, a 3rd year psychology student. My background in psychology enables me to better understand the human mind and behaviour, which I believe is essential to helping others. I am very passionate about UNICEF's causes—child mental health and well-being, quality education, and gender equality.
Relevant experiences:
- Worked with children from an orphanage to research factors that affect academic motivation in youths at-risk
- Volunteer tutor to students without access to tuition services amidst the Covid-19 virus outbreak
- Internship with the Autism Association and St. Andrew's Autism School to support the learning of children with moderate to severe autism
- Internship with the Clinical & Forensic Psychology Service Department of the Ministry of Social and Family Development; assisted in psychotherapy sessions with children who had experienced physical and sexual abuse
- Conducted a research project looking into the factors affecting mental health support for students with special needs.
As the interim Social Media Officer for the past month, I designed event posters and managed the society's social media accounts (take a look at the 10 recent posts on @inaidofunicef on Instagram!). I also proposed the bi-termly newsletter idea and encouraged members' involvement as volunteers for our fundraisers! I hope to continue serving the In Aid of UNICEF society for the rest of the year! Please reach out to me @nadiaaayeo_ on Instagram if you have any questions!
