My MUN journey started last November. Having been violently thrown into the deep end at UCLMUN 2023 (SC as a first-timer bamboozled me), I learnt to love MUNs: the politics, the debates and especially the acronyms. MUNs also gave me friends that I hold close and dear to my heart.
As someone who attended countless training sessions last year, I am committed to give back to our UCLUNA community. Hence I am standing for the role of press director, and look to service the society to the best of my efforts. I hope my MUN CV is adequate for the role, having won 2 awards in the 6 conferences I attended. Currently working as a Diplomacy Society writer-editor, an analyst for geopolitics publication Global Weekly, and having featured in 3 consecutive Asiatic Affairs journals, I am familiar with writing.
Despite all that's been said about the Press Committee at UCLMUN X, I cannot praise enough VP Hayley's work to realise such a creative and fun concept. I enjoyed the misinformation and bombastic headlines, which closely represents real press and the MUN spirit of political-rivalry induced chaos. If elected, I look to retain the vision of the first Press, address your reviews and build on those grounds at the next UCLMUN. I will recruit more writers, not only to Press but to all MUNs and events with #TeamUCL presence, to record our endeavours across London, the UK and Europe, and celebrate them in the Polaris journal. I sincerely hope to have your vote. Thank you all!
Hi everyone, I’m Audrey! I’m a third-year student studying English Literature and I’m running for Press Director of UN Association:)
I was News Editor at Pi Media last year, so I am familiar with publishing and editing large volumes of work under time pressure, and I’ve written articles on a range of topics such as AI development, immigration and global policy.
During COVID, I founded my own publication, uniting students from various backgrounds to engage in meaningful dialogue. I worked closely with schools around the world and reached out to NGOs for collaboration, donating all proceeds from the copies sold. I was also an editorial intern at Vogue, where I developed professional writing and editing skills.
Ever since joining MUN in high school, I’ve been fascinated by the operations of the UN. One of my most memorable experiences was visiting the UN Headquarters during our trip to New York for NHSMUN, where we won awards for Best School and Best Research and Preparation, so I am familiar with the operations of large-scale conferences and the meticulous research required to keep everything running smoothly.
As Press Director, I’ll make sure to maintain the highest quality of work in all our publications to best engage our audience, and help further maximise the accuracy and efficiency in our live reporting and news coverage.
I hope to be an active force within the society, and I would love to have your vote to make it happen! Thank you :)
