Lucy Elliott

I am excited to stand for the fitness captain role in the UCL Swimming Society because I want to deepen my involvement in a community that promotes health, fitness, and connection among its members. Last year, I attended only a few sessions however, I witnessed the positive environment that this club provides. As an ex-competitive swimmer, my passion for the sport drives me to promote swimming as an inclusive activity everyone can enjoy regardless of their skill level.

I firmly believe that swimming is an invaluable life skill and a fantastic way to stay fit, whether competing or swimming casually. My goal as fitness captain is to develop engaging and structured sessions that cater to all abilities, from beginners who may feel intimidated to advanced swimmers looking to refine their skills. From this, I want to foster an environment where members feel supported, encouraged, and motivated to connect with each other and foster a sense of belonging in the community.

While I may not have direct experience as a captain or coach, I have gained valuable insights into the essential components of effective training sessions. I am eager to develop my leadership skills further and leverage my understanding to support others on their swimming journeys. I believe my enthusiasm and commitment to creating a welcoming and dynamic swimming community will, I believe, inspire others to engage fully and enjoy the many benefits swimming offers.
