About Us

UCL Swimming Club is an exciting club that provides students with the opportunity to socialise, train and compete as part of UCL's swimming team. Founded in 2012, our club has rapidly grown to one of the largest sport's clubs with more than 110+ members every year.

The club is open to all students - UCL, RUMS, fresher, postgraduate, and all swimming abilities - whether you swim competitively, for fitness, a beginner or just socially! Our main aim is to provide a club that is friendly and fun with a great social side, bit of banter and strong team-spirit all centred around improving swimming ability, performance and achievement!

We have two tiers of membership for the year: fitness and competitive. All our swimmers have access to up to 3 hours of training per week.

Training is provided accordingly to ability so you'll be with similar swimmers and never feel out of place. For those who take their swimming seriously and want more training, professional coaching and the opportunity to compete at regional and national level, there is our competitive squad. The fitness squad is geared towards swimmers of all abilities (you must know how to swim in order to join the fitness squad) who wish to swim for leisure in a non-competitive environment. It is split into three tiers of varying difficulty so whether you're an ex-competitive swimmer or someone still getting to grips with front crawl, the fitness squad has something to offer everyone.

We know the importance of a cohesive, unified club and so we also have an extensive social calendar with weekly sports nights, regular social events and two dedicated social secretaries oversee all things fun!

Join our WhatsApp chat below to get the registration forms for sessions.

Fitness Squad

To come to our fitness sessions, simply buy your non-competitive/fitness membership and join our WhatsApp Chat to keep up to date with our training and social calendar. You can come to as many or as few sessions as you like so just turn up whenever you're able to!

In the sessions, we will provide you a swimming set (i.e. instructions) with drills for you to follow. The sets will be written in accordance with the aptitude of the swimmers in each lane, so you can choose which lane (and therefore which set) suits you best. You can ask any member of committee present at the trainings for help with your technique and training habits both in the pool and on dry land and we'll be able to help you out!

Competitive Squad

Well done for making it into the competitive squad! To swim at our sessions from now on you will need to buy our full, competitive, membership. For updates; ask our Captain (Olivia Hussey) to add you to our Competitive Team WhatsApp Group-Chat.

We expect a high level of commitment to sessions and the variety of competitions we compete at throughout the year including: BUCS, BUSL, LUSL and most importantly, VARSITY!

If you didn't make it into this squad at the start of the year but are still interested in competing, keep training hard and trial again in January!
