Antra Sokhi

Hi there! I’m Antra Sokhi, an MSc student in Cognitive and Decision Sciences, originally from Mumbai, India. I’m thrilled to be at UCL for this one-year program, and I’m eager to make the most of my time here. I’m currently working on Shrek this term, and joining the Stage Crew Society feels like an incredible way to further immerse myself in UCL’s vibrant community.

I’m applying for the role of Social Secretary because I believe it’s an ideal way to contribute actively to the society while also learning from everyone involved. In this role, I would aim to bring energy, organization, and a collaborative spirit. For example, as Social Secretary, I would work to organize engaging events that foster connections and celebrate the efforts of our members. I want to use my background in decision sciences to bring a thoughtful approach to planning and problem-solving, ensuring our activities are inclusive and enjoyable for all members. Thank you for considering my nomination—I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to the Stage Crew Society and make the most of my time here at UCL!

Thank you for considering my nomination!

Hannah Stanley

Hello :) My name is Hannah. I have worked in a variety of shows both externals and in Bloomsbury theatre. My focus is in Sound, Set and Stage management.

I joined Stage Crew during a time when I was struggling with my mental health. Members of the society were very welcoming and introduced me to the world of theatre. I am very proud to be a member of Stage Crew and want to be a part of continuing the community of this society; socials can be a very good way of do this. Whether through Bloomsbury Theatre productions, External shows, training or more, Stage Crew can be an excellent way for students to build meaningful relationships. However, I know it can be very hard to find time to socialise when working on shows.

Therefore, if elected I would prioritise

  1. Small socials organised in collaborations with the Company Stage Manager (for Blooms) and the Externals officer to celebrate the end of production week/ shows.
  2. Wider Society socials: Putting on bigger social gathering/ trips and events tailored to what people in the society are wanting to do. This could be picnics, theatre trips, pub quizzes, and more.
  3. Accessibility – I aim to support those who may struggle to access the theatre due to disability, experience, confidence, etc. As part of my role, I would collaborate with other committee members to organise workshops around theatre skills and discussions of what theatre is or can be.

I hope you will consider me as one of your Social Sectuaries for this year.

Adam Cleary

I'd like to be more involved in the society. I'm very organised. I love a challenge. I want to help.

(yes i know this is a copy of another application but thats only because its hits so hard)

I think I've been reasonably committed to Stage Crew for a fresher, so far:

  • I'm Audiovisual on shrek
  • I'm Lighting designer on Be more chill
  • Done 1 external with dancesoc
  • Had 14 hours of training during reading week

I have lots of contact with many other societies that *cough cough* may or may not have socials (crazy huh?). But also ideas for SCS only stuff so that we can actually yaknow reward ourselves for the hard work that goes into Stage Crew.

Basically I might be useful.

vote Adam and use your preferences!

Jessica Zeng

I understand. I found paradise in Stage Crew. I had a good time, I made a good living. The committee protected me and there were appropriate codes of conduct. So I thought I didn't need a social secretary like me. Now I turn around, see something’s missing, and say "Please, we need socials". And I'm asking with respect. I am offering (chances to form) friendship. You don't even think to call me "Social Secretary" (until now). You come into Stage Crew this academic year in the absence of a social secretary and I ask you to vote for me - for fun.

Rania Harryanto

Hi, I'm Rania, a first year Arts and Sciences student who’s done Stage Crew at my high school for two years now, and I'm excited to run for Social Sec! I've loved being part of the Stage Crew community here and I want to help other people feel part of it as well. I want to help create more fun, inclusive, and engaging socials.

I love talking to people and getting to know them, as well as bringing people together. In addition to weekly trips to the pub, I'd like to organise a mix of events, from seeing a UCL show together or a movie night! In particular, I'd love to bring a tradition I have from my previous school to UCL: Tech Show. After get-out, the tech (only those who volunteer, of course!) recreate a scene or dance from the show, with limited to no rehearsal or planning. It's fun, it's silly, and gives everyone a chance to laugh before heading home for the night or to the pub.

I'm also open to any ideas anyone else has—I aim for everyone to feel included, whether you're a fresher or a vet! Text or WA me with any questions! I look forward to creating memorable experiences with everyone :)
