Amal Mohamed

Hello, my name is Amal and I'm a 3rd year pharmacy student who is very excited to get the chance to be formally apart of the Somali society as their welfare officer.
Having worked with the committee members this year on events like 'Meet and Greet 2024/25' and 'Sip and Paint 2024/25 for girls' I have gained a huge insight into what it takes to plan, organise and bring an event to life. These events have been amazing, with a large turnout from students all over UCL, whether they are Somali or not. I now understand how important it is to ensure everyone is safe, secure and away from any harm to enjoy the events that we put on. To make sure I am up to the task, I have read and checked through the core risk assessment sheet available to the Somali society committee before all of the events. Putting extra chairs and tables away from the event room, surveying the room for anything that can cause harm and making sure everything who entered the room was comfortable was just a few of the tasks I have taken on during this last month with the committee. If chosen for this position, I pledge to make safety my top priority where the welfare of each and every person is well looked after. To conclude, I would love to continue supporting the Somali society committee as their welfare officer and bringing fun filled events to all the members of this society.
