Rawleka Wilson

Hey everyone! I’m Rawleka, and I’ve been absolutely HOOKED on salsa for three years now. Joining UCL Salsa Society was one of my best decisions — and if we’ve met, there’s a good chance I’ve already tried to convince you to join me at a social!

Why vote for me? I bring 2 years of experience as a Student Officer in the Student Union, where I successfully organised many events, including 4 free salsa workshops for Black History Month. I’m organised, proactive, and deeply committed to creating an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. Having attended the Croatia Salsa Festival and the Paris International Festival, I understand what makes a social successful and exciting.

As social secretary, I would bring exciting events to life, including:

  • Regular Meetups at popular salsa venues across London (e.g., Salsa Soho)
  • Beginner-Friendly Socials designed to help everyone practice in a relaxed setting
  • Salsa & Bachata Festivals like the Croatia Salsa Festival, connecting us with the broader salsa community
  • Outdoor Salsa Nights in local parks during the warmer months
  • Themed Dance Parties (think ‘90s Salsa Throwback!) to mix things up
  • Collaborations with Other Societies & Unis to connect with other dancers

My goal is to create events where we can practice our moves & build our confidence outside of class. With my passion for salsa and proven track record in organising events, I’m excited to create memorable experiences for us all. Vote for me, and let’s make this the best salsa year yet!

Marianne Heleine

My passion for salsa and the Latin dance community has truly blossomed since joining the society. The exciting dynamic of dance, music and vibrant personalities have captivated me. Immersing myself in the society for the past 2 years has been an amazing experience and I have made some of my best friends here.

Beyond the classes lies one of the most important parts of the society—its social aspect. Salsa extends beyond the UCL dance floor, and I aim to introduce members to the rich Latin dance scene that thrives in London.

As the Social Secretary, I aim for everyone to have loads of fun by organising a variety of activities and trips. Ranging from casual socials, securing exclusive discounts for events across London and planning trips to salsa festivals nationwide, I am committed to ensuring this all happens. My goal is that salsa society is an inclusive community where it is easy to make friends and the joy of dance is felt at all levels.

Thank you for reading my manifesto and I appreciate your vote!
