Election post

Status
Elected
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  • Tackle global issues at the university level

UCL produces a vast amount of climate literature, and I intend to see that the university does its part in fighting the climate crisis

  • Create a supportive environment for students to express their concerns about university-wide issues

Whether it is rent/cost of living concerns or mental health and wellbeing support, everyone should feel safe and supported enough to bring these issues up at an institutional level. I hope to be that voice for students and will communicate clearly to the university about the changes that students want to see made

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have experience in climate activism and animal advocacy, including doing outreach, writing press releases, and managing online communications. As a multicultural international student, I bring a global perspective and open-mindedness to tackle issues that affect us all, such as the climate and nature crises.

I’m always keen to understand others’ viewpoints and how they can inform my own thinking. Being involved with several societies on campus, including as a committee member, has made me receptive to feedback and constructive criticism that I learn from so I can grow and better myself.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I believe that universities should provide more than just an education. I hope to demonstrate that being a leader for progressive measures that will benefit future generations needs to be done at an institutional level. The opinions of UCL students will be heard at the national level, and I will carry on our student body’s forward thinking and innovative nature. As a first-year student, I will learn from other universities in the NUS, and see how their own ideas and motions can be used to improve the lives of UCL students. I aim to create a vibrant student body that is proud to be at UCL.
