Trini Mitra

All of India socs events this year from chai meets to club nights, and movie nights to Sangeet, have been incredible and are all important to the society. I believe I have connections with several Indians in UCL and in other London universities, across years and subjects, so I would be able to communicate with a lot of people to sell tickets. Most importantly, I would sell to people who enjoy lots of different things, not just those I have things in common with, so that everyone feels that they are included and know that there is an event for them. I have also used social media to sell tickets effectively in the past to events at my school, giving me another avenue to sell. A new way I could organise ticket sales would be in person stalls to sell tickets set up on campus where several society members pass through, or perhaps simply to work with the Marketing Officer to produce many more posters for events and strategically place them around UCL. I have run events in the past, and I believe I am organised so will be able to brief the committee regularly on sales updates.

Glen W Pushpaseelan

I believe that I would be a great addition to the Indian society committee as a sales officer. I’ve had an amazing time attending all the social events both big and small, and as a result found some amazing friends. And so, I would love to play a role in encouraging the next batch of first years as well as the current university students in making the same or even better memories than I did. I love to work with other people as a team as well so I would definitely enjoy the opportunity to work alongside the future president and treasurer in planning promotion for these special occasions. I would be extremely committed in ensuring that we have very memorable events next year and undoubtedly sell them out by incorporating a mixture of the current strategies used as well as some new methods of creating awareness and selling tickets, such as raffles and giveaways. I hope you will strongly consider me as a member and I’m looking forward to speaking more about this later on.

Aakanksha Tripathi

Hi, my name is Aakanksha, I am a first year Med student and I am running to be Sales Director! Having attended all of Indian Societies’ events this year, such as Dhamaal and Jashn, I would love to make next years’ events more successful. I believe that my previous experience of persevering and selling over 250 tickets for my school leavers’ ball has helped me in establishing the patience required to be a good sales director, making me suitable for this role. Also, I am someone who is very proud of their culture and roots, Indian Society has given me this feeling of home away from home and, I would love to be a part of establishing this for all students, as it leads to a sense of community. Previously, having been part of the sixth-form leadership team as assistant head girl, has enabled me to gain the skills to work very well in a team as I am aware of my role and, can effectively communicate with other team members and, can be organised. Therefore, presenting the key inter-personal skills I can add as an individual to the committee.

Jovi Bhalla

First and foremost because I’m a desi munda!         I would genuinely enjoy working with other committee members who are of Indian background hopefully no coconuts.

The society will benefit by having me as a committee member as I come with loads of fresh energy that someone else may not necessarily bring. As a sales director I will come up with creative and dynamic strategies that will help sell out key Indian society events whether it be Jashn or Dhamaal. I am further a frequent and active user of social media so know how to boost engagement on posts. I have previously blown up on tiktok with my creative posts getting in excess of 250k views on one video. As a result I think it’s important with this position that I liaise with marketing directors in making posts for the standout events. I consider myself to possess the necessary organisational skills required for this role and will make sure to update committee members on sales in committee meetings.

Overall I think if I get selected for this position the events by Indian society will undoubtedly be successful and enjoyable selling out every time! I would be grateful to have this opportunity…

Anmol Singh

Hey I’m Anmol! I’m a first year Data Science student. Being an active member of Indian Society during my first year, is the best highlight of being at UCL, from meeting new people to learning new things. As a Sales Director, I would make it my signature that every Indian Society event is always sold out.

I believe I have already obtained the key qualities required by a Sales Rep must have from past experiences which range from confidence, networking and communication by having a large media presence or being social media savvy. As the sole Sales Director for the nationals reaching young enterprise team in 6th form, I went out in public and social media and sell products that you would not buy on a regular day from phone chargers to speakers. Also, I have sold out many events in my secondary school such as talks in the Asian Society I co-ran which included food and drinks as well as charity events such as the most popular 6th form party night which included musical acts, DJ sets and refreshments and a record sale of 200 leavers hoodies and yearbooks.

I am enthusiastic about sales and a glowing and bubbly character with a huge presence in the university. With this outreach I can expand Indian Society events not just to Indian students. The Society is for representing the beauty and culture of India which I hope to do. I believe I would be able to come up with efficient sales strategies. With these goals, I believe I would be a great Indian Society committee member.
