Vasudha Goel

Hi, I’m Vasu and I’m running for President!

UCL’s Indian Society has been a major part of my first year and I have made so many amazing friendships through its events. As first year representative, I have gained many skills from the current committee which I intend to input as president. I propose to put more emphasis on the families scheme and organise more social events within them, such as sports and games nights, with a higher focus on Indian culture. I also want to work with other universities and societies to create joint socials.

Being president requires strong leadership skills which I‘ve developed through many experiences including working at the National Trust, where I managed a team of 10 for 6 months and we planned and organised multiple children’s activities. I was also involved in organising Chai in the Quad, where my key responsibilities included researching where to find the best chai, securing orders at the best prices and general planning. The event was a huge success and we raised £300+ for charity.

Being first-year representative this year has given me valuable insight into how Indian Society is run and how some of our flagship events, e.g. Jashn and Dhamaal, are organised. This unique experience will allow me to ensure that the society is even bigger and better for the following year!

Vote for me as president to continue the dhamaal ;)
