Election post
My name is Margarida and I have an academic interest in infection and immunology. I am running for president and, if elected, my priorities would be the following:
1. Work with the committee to organise in-person and online seminars with acclaimed researchers in immunology, pathology, autoimmune diseases, and related areas.
2. Create social events (dinners, pub nights, etc) for students to interact with other society members.
3. Collaborate with other related UCL societies to host joint social and educational events.
4. Create opportunities for career and postgraduate study advice, such as CV guidance workshops or events in which PhD students and researchers introduce their career journey.
5. Promote an active society on social media pages and email to encourage more students to join.
I have been involved in leadership and event planning roles for three years, both before university and during my two years at UCL. In UCL, I have worked as an academic representative, integration ambassador, and events officer for two societies. As a result, I gained experience in communication between external guests, society members, and the committee, as well as teamwork and organisational skills. I am familiar with the UCL community and able to present innovative ideas for the society. Ultimately, I want to provide a welcoming community for students interested in immunology as a subject, career path or hobby.
I hope you consider me as next year’s president!
