Election post
Having been in the club for 3 years, UCLWHC has shaped my uni experience, as hockey was not just a place for a bit of sport but also a really welcoming, friendly environment. So, it is my pleasure to be running for president to ensure this can continue for years to come.
Being on committee for the last 2 years has made me passionate about how the club functions and any improvements. As fixtures sec, weekly communication between internal and external people is very important and has really helped reinforce my organisation, being on top of things and planning out my weeks. Being social sec increased my confidence and helped me get to know a lot of the hockey club, I think it is important committee members are well known so they are approachable to anyone with any issues.
Aspects to focus on:
- Committee: regular meetings to stay on top of work
- 3s&4s: sourcing a coach and increasing integration into the club
- 4s: changing the attitude to the 4s team
- RUHC: working out a more cost-efficient system of payment
- Kit: trying to get it sorted sooner and organising a system for fresh to have/be lent tops
- Welfare: continuing online sessions and anonymous forums, creating safe spaces in club
- Media: keeping up to date, weekly round ups and what’s on
- Volunteering: continuing to push monthly volunteering activities
- Transition: working with Julia to ensure a smooth transition over the years (e.g. sorting out LUSL matching and issues of fielding full teams
