Jamila Abdel-Razek

Hi, I’m Jamila, a History of Art student in first year! To me, people interested in the History of Art ventilate the world. Some moments that have been most influential on me this year have been through the HOA society, whether it’s attending inspirational speaker events to meeting my closest friends. I only wish to translate my gratitude by giving others the same opportunities. I am applying for President because it would be a privilege to be part of a community that shares such beautiful interests, and to create spaces for members to continue exploring the world of art.

I would love to provide more events to meet others, whether it be a museum visit or a picnic in the park, allowing members to converse about topics they care about and share them with others. Other than providing pizza parties, HOA merch and speaker events, I assure you I will constantly do my best to give you the opportunities to actively engage with and contribute to the society, possibly through creating collective platforms. As Vice President of the Thespian Society in my High School, I have experience organising events to include all members of the society.

Being a first-year, I understand how daunting it feels to be in a new place. The History of Art Society made my transition into university so much easier. I only wish to give you that same experience or just feel supported by people who care about the same things you do. Being president would be an honour, I hope you can consider me!
