Jonas Lennie

Hi! I’m Jonas Lennie, a first-year computer scientist and I would like to be your vice president next year.

Having joined the club just last year, then going on to lead walks and participate in both residentials has given me a unique perspective of the operations of the club, from the joining process to seeing how the current committee organises events and first-hand walk leading experience. I believe this makes me uniquely positioned to join the committee and work with the new leadership team to continually improve the club going forward. I would hope to improve the club, with just a few of my ideas listed below:

• Exploring options for more socials, events and themed walks, as well as organising residentials
• Grow club membership by keeping the club as accessible as possible as well as providing more opportunities for experienced walkers
• A stronger focus on growing a community around hiking club

I would also place a focus on collaboration with other clubs and societies, exploring options for joint events, along with possible events with other universities.

Having organised and participated in a significant number of expeditions in Scotland, including Duke of Edinburgh Gold, I’ve become experienced at route planning and expedition organisation, which makes me well placed to organise residentials.

I’m excited to continue exploring the outdoors and providing new and experienced members the opportunity to see more of the UK going forward. Thanks!
