I am a current Year 1 MSci Biological Sciences student, and will be specialising in Human Genetics from Year 2, so I would love to become an Associate Committee Member in Genetics Society for the upcoming year!

Within Genetics, I'm most passionate about its interdisciplinary application, linking it to fields such as psychology in investigating gene combinations that lead to schizophrenia vulnerability, or law with assessing the genetic basis of psychopathy and whether the justice system should view crimes committed by sufferers differently. I hope to obtain this role so I can further explore my multifaceted interest in the field of Genetics, by assisting a variety of committee members in their roles in order for me to gain diverse experience in the many aspects needed to run a society.

I believe this role fits my skillset due to my previous experience as leader of my high school’s Science Society. This position involved directly reaching out to and coordinating the talks of 4 guest speakers, being the main organiser of a large scale science conference in school with 14 student speakers over 2 weeks, conducting a school-wide science poster fair and keeping the committee and community updated on the society by sending weekly informative emails. I hope to transfer the varied skillsets of leadership, teamwork and organisation I developed into this role.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you consider voting for me as an Associate Committee Member!
