Hi, I am Jocelyn. Some of you may already know me from our course or other societies, but for those of you who don't, I am a second-year doing chemical engineering. Engineering society has been a huge part of my study this year. The range of events offered was phenomenal and extremely useful. I regret not having taken part in the society more often as a first-year. However, I would like to be given a chance to serve my fellow engineering student next year as a committee.
I have been a communication officer in boardgame society last year. This position have given me experience in not only serving but communicating with external companies and society but also an insight into how important external sponsorship can be in a society. As the largest STEM society in UCL, I believe we have an unique advantage in acquiring sponsorships, all we need is the willingness to reach out and pitch ourselves. I have some training in public speaking from doing LAMDA qualifications and training as a student ambassador. And I believe my skillset would be useful to the society.
Having been the Sponsorship Executive this year, I feel it is natural for me to expand on our achievements as the Head of Sponsorship. In the past, together with the Head of Sponsorship, we secured 8 sponsors from different industries (and more than £5,000 in funding), targeting students of different STEM disciplines.
Next year, I would like to expand the Sponsorship Team and its capacity to keep in touch with companies, arrange even more agreements and provide more sponsored events for our members. As the biggest STEM Society at UCL, the Engineering Society has a lot of potential to expand its reach and provide more high-quality career-focused events, as well as the very desired socials. As we come back to normal, I will do my best for the events to be in-person as much as possible.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out on my Instagram @jlastowiecki or email me at [email protected] !
UCLES already has a valuable sponsorship network and I believe I can strive and reach out to even more premium sponsors and expand the network further to leverage these relationships to provide better and exciting opportunities to all UCL students for upskilling, networking and career development.
For this I would make use of my experience as First Year Representative responsible for organising the Engineering Week. I was able to reach out to over 30 companies and develop valuable industry connect for the career fair and innovation talks this year. If given the chance to represent you, I believe I can build on this expertise to extend the visibility and reach of the society across industries in all engineering disciplines to provide enhanced opportunities for all students to connect with their dream companies.I had a great learning experience working with my peers and seniors this year and I am sure we can look to further synergistically develop this collaboration and take UCLES one step further.
With your support, I wish to make UCLES the society with the widest reach across a diverse spectrum of industries providing multiple opportunities to students for interaction with employers and catalysing their goal of securing internships and jobs to embark on a successful career.
Being an FYR at the UCL Engineering Society was one of the biggest highlights of my first year as I made memories and developed skills that will stick with me lifelong. However, the most developed skill was my interpersonal skills and ability to form and facilitate meaningful relationships. From leading the mentorship program that brought together industry professionals and our society members, to organising the engineering week where I interacted with different companies and represented not only UCLES but the entirety of UCL, I was able to hone my communication skills.
This skill will aid my role as the Head of Sponsorship enabling me to create industry links on behalf of UCLES. I believe I am the right person to connect with companies and maximise the opportunities they provide to UCLES members.
The singular aspect of UCLES that is limiting its full potential is funding; I aim to be the right person to solve this problem through expanding our sponsors, bringing the Engineering Society to the next level.
My main goal as Head of Sponsorship is to find sponsors who are not only willing to support UCLES but also share the same core values as us. I want sponsors who can support us more than just monetarily, and I will put in the work to ensure that.
Vote Raghav for your Head of Sponsorship. Vote for Raghav to be a part of something bigger and better this year.
Hello everyone, I’m Louis, a Chemical Engineering student running for the Head of Sponsorship at UCLES.
Having work experience in several financial services corporations, I was involved in obtaining sponsorships from stakeholders for several projects where I was able to convert 90% of my prospects into actual sponsors, resulting in over £7000 raised. Accustomed to the way of maintaining strong relationships with new and existing sponsors, I believe that I can help UCLES achieve its mission and provide members with more opportunities and unforgettable experiences.
As the Head of Sponsorship, I can guarantee you that I will utilise my existing industry connections to extend the array of sponsors to provide you with the best career opportunities, insights and networking events to interact with employers from your dream firm as well as strengthen the existing ties with our current sponsors.
Looking ahead, my vision involves:
- Increasing the number of sponsors from a wider array of industries
- Maintain and strengthen ties with our existing sponsors
- Providing more career opportunities and insights from our sponsors
I strongly believe that it is these opportunities that play a key role in securing your dream position.
Vote for Louis, vote for someone with experience in the sector who can bring you opportunities that get you one step closer to your dream role.
