Election post
Hey! Did you know that 78% of students experience a mental health problem during their studies? Let’s talk about that.
My name is Dara and I’m a second-year Psychology student. As someone who has suffered from anxiety and depression, I understand well (oh so well!) the negative impact that balancing a degree, extra-curricular activities, and life in general can have on your wellbeing, especially due to the current times. I strongly believe that my two years of experience volunteering with individuals with mental health issues, as well as my mental health journey as a student have provided me with the skill set, experience and dedication to help students improve their wellbeing.
If elected as your Welfare Officer, I would aim to:
- Organize various activities and socials throughout the year to allow students to have a break from university stress. Ideas I have include movie, quiz and board games nights, Bulgarian food cook-offs, food tours, picnic socials:)
- Run events in collaboration with other UCL societies and Bulgarian societies in other London universities, with Bulgarian alumni and representatives from different companies coming in to give motivational talks about their university and career experiences
People often speak to respond but I want you to speak so I can listen.:)
I'll do my best to help make the society feel like a home away from home:)
Let's work together to make things better!
Thank you x
