Hi everyone! I'm Andrea and I started learning BSL with the Sign Language Society this year! I find that sign languages are a unique form of communication that can challenge you to go out of your comfort zone as d/Deaf people regularly have to in a hearing world. I also simply find BSL classes an engaging and fun experience and have really enjoyed trying something new at uni!

Classes this year have been really welcoming and supportive, and I have also found SLS socials to be a much-needed break from hectic uni life. In this sense, I feel the Welfare Officer position would help me ensure these vibes continue next year, especially for our current students intending to return to BSL classes! I believe SLS can contribute to current and new members' welfare by providing this space where we can learn something new in a relaxing environment.

As your welfare officer, I intend to ensure that any concerns and requests from society members are heard and responded to. I will also coordinate closely with and support the other members of the committee to ensure that we are kept on the same page in terms of societal matters and can contribute to the smooth running of the society without feeling overwhelmed.

I hope you will find me an approachable member of the committee, with responsibility experience in various high school and uni clubs. I am very excited to contribute to our growing and fun society while gaining new skills.

Thank you for voting for me!
