I am standing for the Careers officer because I am eager to find employment and internship opportunities for people studying both architecture and engineering in the built environment. I would also be keen to look behond just the built environment, and spread awareness about opportunities in different sectors such as industrial design, contracting and finance.
As Careers Officer, I would do my best to make sure that the different types of placement application processes for different fields become clearer to students. This would include CV, cover letter tips, but also more industry specific portfolio tips as well.
Lastly, I would want to create a graduate network connecting people who have graduated with the Engineering and Architectural Design Degree. This would help us gain a better understanding of where our integrated design skills would fit in the job market and help us make industry connections.
