The People’s Classroom started by UCL students and staff, was established in 2018 to support London university student tutors to deliver Maths GCSE tuition sessions. Students who are both from marginalised backgrounds (incl. BAME, low socioeconomic status, learning disabilities, neurodiverse) and currently underperforming are provided with an engaging and accessible learning environment.
The volunteer will be undertaking a literature review researching the effectiveness of peer tutoring interventions and best practises in peer tutoring. This research will provide a means to implement and create teaching practises for The People’s Classroom. The volunteer will have the opportunity to co-present findings.
-
Literature review and summary on best practise peer tutoring, student selection, and tutor training methods
-
Possibly interviewing tutors and students
-
Findings will be implemented in tangible change and reflect teaching practises
-
