Description

Bedford House Community Association works to improve quality of life through adult education; including art, fitness and leisure courses, especially for people aged over 55.

Duties

Develop insightful interview questions and design questionnaires to explore the experiences of individuals, along with their families and friends, actively participating in BHCA's courses and activities. Through casual interviews, uncover their personal narratives, highlighting how community life within BHCA becomes an important part of their routines, and the ways in which these activities enrich their lives.

Who will the volunteers be working with?
BHCA staff, the course attendees, and potentially their families and friends.
Training
Volunteers will receive induction training from BHCA staff, providing essential information about BHCA and its services, along with guidance on crafting interview questions and maintaining appropriate tones. Additionally, volunteers are encouraged to reach out to Lykke (contact details provided later in the form) for ongoing assistance and support.

Time commitment

The volunteer is invited to attend BHCA’s Summer Show of this year on the 7th of July (https://www.bedfordhouse.org.uk/summer-show-2023-1). This will provide an opportunity to engage with attendees from various courses, as well as their families and friends, in casual conversations and potentially conduct interviews or administer questionnaires. Additionally, volunteers are encouraged to participate in ongoing courses (https://www.bedfordhouse.org.uk/community-courses) before the Summer Show, allowing them to connect with attendees and initiate conversations. This involvement could lead to the establishment of a regular and long-term voluntary commitment, potentially extending to quantitative data collection.
