Islington Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Islington in Greater London. It is a London borough council - one of 32 in London. The council meets at Islington Town Hall on Upper Street, N1.

About 225,000 residents live in the borough and the Council's guiding ambition from now to  2030 is the creation of a more equal Islington where everyone is able to thrive.

Operationally the Council has eight separate-but-interlinked departments:

  • Environment and Climate Change
  • Homes and Neighbourhoods
  • Community Wealth Building
  • Public Health
  • Community Engagement and Wellbeing
  • Resources

in 2023 Islington Council and University College London signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreeing to work together on projects and programmes that are of mutual benefit.
