Purpose of the job

Student staff are at the heart of our catering operations team, serving our customers with enthusiasm and kindness, whilst maintaining high standards of service and food hygiene.

 

This role forms a key part of our Operations team, led by the Head of Operations. Comprising of both front facing and behind the scenes departments including Cafes and Bars, the Bloomsbury Fitness gym, Human Resources, Facilities, and Systems, the team deliver core functions and central services for the Union, as well as providing a diverse range of quality facilities accessible to our 40,000 members. The Operations team, and this role, are central to the successful delivery of our new strategic plan that will set us on the path to become one of the best students’ unions in the UK, and more importantly a better students’ union for our members.

Job description

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • To serve and assist customers, ensuring the highest level of customer service.
  • To prepare and serve a range of food and hot and cold drinks.
  • To enter all transactions through the till systems and receive appropriate payment.
  • To ensure that the outlet area is kept clean, tidy, and well stocked in accordance with Union procedures.
  • To assist in preparing the outlet to open/close for service, following the Union’s procedures.
  • To maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety, in line with statutory regulations and the Union’s procedures.
  • To receive and check deliveries as required.
  • To assist a supervisor or Catering Manager with stock take procedures as directed.
  • To undertake other duties within the framework of this post from time to time as needed, as directed by a supervisor or Catering Manager.
