Description

Zero Food Waste is a student-led project at UCL that aims to tackle food waste on campus. We redistribute food from where it is in excess to where it is in need: from UCL cafés to homeless shelters and a surplus food bank. 

We are looking for 3 volunteers to take up a leadership role in helping us expanding our initiative from the Bloomsbury campus to the East campus.

Duties

- Oversee and coordinate shifts taking place on the East campus

- Cover empty shifts when needed

- Communicate with cafe staff and our charity partners (Carpenters and Dockland community centre and Our Place) to ensure smooth operation 

Who will the volunteers be working with?
Project leaders based on the Bloomsbury campus, Sustainability manager at Ch&Co, Food outlet staff and charity partner(s)
Training
Induction, training and support will be provided by project leaders based on the Bloomsbury campus. The volunteers will also be supported by SU Volunteering Services and other SU staff based at UCL East.

Time commitment

We expect volunteers who sign up for this position to continue their volunteering in term 3, as well as in summer months if possible. Please ONLY sign up if you are able to commit your time (1-2hrs per week on average) to this role from the beginning of September to the end of August, 2025.
