Pride In Sport: Club Representatives

Proud to be a part of Team UCL - Part 1

We recently asked some sports club members what it means to them to be LGBT+ and part of sports here. Two students have written short blogs which are below telling us what it means to them and what their experience was like…

At no point have I ever been made to feel uncomfortable about parts of myself…

UCLU's clubs have Pride in sport

NUS Out in Sport Report found that 46.8% of LGBT students who do participate in sport, find the culture around sport alienating or unwelcoming. Pride in Sport’s aim is to tear down the barriers that exist for LGBT students, and encourage sport societies to be welcoming and accessible to all.

Above all, we want the Students’ Union to be inclusive. We want to know that we are truly open to everyone and have opportunities that can be accessed by all students, not matter who you are, where you come from or what you enjoy. That’s why we are hugely proud to have been awarded the British University and College Sport (BUCS) Take a Stand award for inclusivity in sport.

Pride in Sport

Being active can be a great way to make friends and build confidence. And there’s no place on that pitch for discrimination.
