Capoeira is a martial art that was created by African slaves in Brazil as a means to defend themselves from their oppressors. In order to mask the fact that they were practicing a martial art, the slaves had to make it look like a dance which is why capoeira is unique in the way it incorporates rhythm and music into its fighting form. We welcome participants of all ages, fitness and experience. Our group practices all three styles of capoeira: angola, benguela and regional, but incorporate our own unique style in the art.

The UCLU Capoeira club train twice a week and have other events though out the year.
