Find the society for you!
UCL has over 400 student-run societies, clubs, and networks, so whoever you are and whatever your passion, there's probably a society out there waiting to support it.
And if there's not... any student can start a new society. Help build the communities you want to see at Canary Wharf! All clubs and societies can apply for funding to host events and activities, and help the SoM campus life thrive.
We're here for Postgraduates!
Whether you're doing coursework or research, the Students' Union is here to provide all the other things that enrich your postgrad experience. While postgrads are invited to participate in any Students' Union activities, from societies to socials, we also offer tailored support, social networks, and events made just for you.

Questions? We've got you covered!
- What is Students’ Union UCL?
UCL is a huge community, and at the heart of that community is the Students’ Union. We’re here to help you make the most of your time at UCL beyond the classroom. We're your route to hundreds of clubs and societies, volunteering opportunities, social activities and events, great places to eat and drink, fun shops with custom merch, an Advice Service when you need it, and ways to make lasting change at UCL as an officer or representative.
We’re led by students, democratically. Each year, we elect 1000s of student representatives across all campuses and levels of study to guide the Students' Union's activities and campaigns. Six students even take a year out of their studies and get paid to make decisions, influence UCL, and represent you. They’re called Sabbatical Officers.
While we work closely with UCL, we are an independent organisation, which means that the interests of the students can always come first—we work for you!
- What can you help me with?
We're a hub for expanding your student experience beyond your coursework and classrooms. That means we can help you...
Volunteer. We can help you find ways to volunteer, both online and in-person, in the local community, providing opportunities to make connections, build skills, and give back. Find out more and browse their directory of opportunities here.
Join in. We support hundreds of societies and networks. Joining or starting a society isn't just a great way to make friends and pursue your passions, you can also gain leadership experience and build skills by applying for funds and organising events and activities. Learn all about our societies here. We also host our own events, which you can learn about if you scroll back up.
Make change. We are the voice for the students at UCL, which means if you want something to change about your experience, we can help make that happen. Whether it's a timetabling issue or institution-wide changes, elected Representatives are working all year-round to make your life a UCL better. Want to make your voice heard? Learn more here.
Find support. When times get tough, we’re here for you. Our Advice Service can support you with academic issues (like complaints), money issues (like debt and budgeting), housing issues (like contract checking), and lots more.
- Where can I hang out on campus?
You’ll find plenty of places to hang out at the School of Management, with student hubs on Levels 50, 49, and 38 offering some of the best views over London, each with its own vibe. For example, Level 50 has board games and a student pantry, while Level 38 features table tennis. All floors are equipped with snack and drink machines to keep you fuelled throughout the day.
- How do you join clubs and societies?
You can join online through our website: just browse our directory to get started. All societies are student-run and student-led, so if you don't find what you're looking for, you can start your own!
- How can I stay updated on what's happening at School of Management?
The best way is to check this website for new events, or keep a eye on your UCL email account. The School of Management sends out several newsletters with important updates and opportunities, including a monthly round-up of school-wide news, wellbeing tips, and teaching and learning updates.
Our events and activities will always be advertised on this webpage, so you can learn what's up and grab a ticket all in one place.
