Join TeamUCL in celebrating and raising awareness for Mental Health Awareness Week on Monday 11 May to Sunday 17 May 2026.
What is Mental Health Awareness Week?

Mental Health Awareness Week is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness, encouraging conversations around mental wellbeing and challenging the stigma surrounding mental health. Each year, the campaign explores a different theme connected to mental wellbeing.
This year’s theme is Action. While awareness is important, meaningful change happens when we take action too.

Why get involved?

Taking part in sport and physical activity is a great way to take a break from the pressures of university life, make new friends and have fun! As we all know, physical activity is not only beneficial for our physical health, but also our mental health too. 💪🧠
Taking part in physical activity can help:
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Improve sleep, concentration and energy levels
- Promote release of endorphins that boosts our mood
- Build confidence and self-esteem
Whether it’s coming along to a Pay and Play session, taking a walk with friends or trying a yoga class for the first time, small actions can make a big difference to how we feel!
How do I get involved?
Alongside our regular Term 3 Project Active programme, we will also be offering a special timetable for Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) available for all UCL students and staff.
Our MHAW timetable consists of a range of activities delivered by Project Active, All Jokes Aside and TeamUCL Gym, offering plenty of opportunities to get moving, try something new and prioritise your wellbeing through physical activity and community.🚶
All our sessions are designed to be welcoming, social and accessible to students of all ability levels. You will require a ticket (even if they are free) for all our activities and events, so make sure you secure your space today by booking here. 👈

MHAW doesn’t have to be the end of your wellbeing journey! Continue staying active and prioritising your health by joining Team UCL gym, getting involved in TeamUCL's All Jokes Aside events or attending Project's Active weekly classes and Pay and Play sessions throughout Term 3 and across the summer.
