What to expect at Project Active Muay Thai:
Our weekly classes are open to all UCL staff and students and are designed to be:
- Beginner friendly (no experience is needed)
- Low commitment
- Inclusive and welcoming
- A great place for making new friends
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a friendly Project Active instructor who will check your ticket sent to your email. You will have a chance to have a quick chat and get to know other participants before beginning your class!
Class Description:
What is Muay Thai? Muay Thai (Thai boxing) is a dynamic martial art that uses the entire body as a weapon. Known as the “Art of 8 Limbs" (fists, elbows, knees, shins), it’s a fantastic workout that builds agility, power, and mental focus, all while teaching practical self-defence skills.
Go at your own pace, there is no judgement in our classes and remember all classes are beginner friendly. So have fun, try a new activity and enjoy meeting new UCL friends at Project Active.
Location: Mandela Studio, Bloomsbury Fitness, 3rd Floor Bloomsbury Theatre
Instructor: Bella Gilbert
Equipment: All equipment will be provided at the class, please bring a water bottle with you.
What to wear: Please wear whatever clothing you feel comfortable in! Sports wear is recommended!
Please note: this is a free class, if you are unable to come please cancel your ticket to allow another member to book on.
Also, You may not be able to join the class if you are more than 10 minutes late to the class, due to health and safety and disruptions. Please make sure you give adequate time to get to the venue.

Project Active and TeamUCL are celebrating This Girl Can Week from Monday 26 January to Sunday 1 February 2026.
This Girl Can (funded by The National Lottery) is a national campaign celebrating women being active no matter how they do it! The campaign believes that there’s no “right” way to get active. Project Active celebrates this campaign with a variety of different activities
