It's Student Volunteering Week Make a difference

February is the annual month-long celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history. It is a dedicated time to acknowledge, celebrate and share the impact of LGBTQ+ culture.

This years theme is Activism and Social Change, recognising LGBTQ+ activists throughout history who have fought for the rights and equality of LGBTQ+ people.

Our LGBTQ+ and Trans Officers are at the heart of building strong, inclusive communities across campus. They're here to listen to and amplify the voices of LGBTQ+ students, making sure their concerns and experiences are heard. But they’re not just honoring history — they’re shaping it, right here and right now at UCL.

Meet our LGBTQ+ officers and Trans Officers

Danilo Pagnelli (Part-time LGBTQ+ Officer)

Danilo Pagnelli has been on the committee of the LGBTQ+ Network since October 2020 and he is longest running committee member to date. His area of expertise is in planning LGBTQ+ events across campus, ensuring there is a packed schedule of opportunities for people to make friends and have fun.

Anji Suri ( Part-time LGBTQ+ Officer)

Reflecting on this year, Anji Suri, Part-time LGBTQ+ Officer says:

We’ve been focusing a lot more on where the network stands concerning the wider community (UCL and otherwise). This has been through increased collaboration - we’re working to engage with different communities a lot more to ensure the network represents and supports everyone!"

We’re really proud to connect with so many trans* students and allies across the trans* community. With the Trans* Network, we plan a range of events that everyone can get involved in. Our goal is to support the growing trans* community on campus by making sure their voices are heard across UCL. Most importantly, we want every trans student to have a safe space where they can find advice and friendship."

Trans* Officers

Ready to make a difference? There are so many ways to create positive change on campus. If you're looking to step up as a leader, why not put yourself forward to become an officer and be the voice for Trans* and LGBTQ+ students?

You can also join our networks and work with us to promote a variety of events, campaign for and raise awareness on issues, and work closely with one another to raise funds for charities.
