The Trans* Students' Network represents an opportunity for students to challenge and campaign against discrimination, oppression and inequality faced by themselves or others and work to defend and extend their rights.
At the network, everyone self-defines as Trans*, and every identity that falls under the 'trans' umbrella, which means you'll meet people with similar experiences to you.
- What does Trans* Mean?
In writing, using an asterisk at the end of "trans" is a way to use one shorthand expression to refer to a variety of identities that are incredibly diverse, but share one simple, common denominator, that these people may not identify as the gender they were assigned at birth.
This list is not at all exhaustive, but some example of Trans* Identities may be: Transgender, Genderqueer, Agender, Genderfluid, Non-Binary, Bigender, Transmasculine, Transfeminine... and many more!
