Childcare @ UCL
In recent years it has become clear that having affordable childcare is crucial to UCL students. Around 10% of the total student population at UCL have some form of caring responsibility, and as of February 2020 almost 2500 students were caring for children under the age of 18, with this figure potentially a conservative one due to students having the option of not disclosing this information.
TeamUCL Lockdown Challenge
The TeamUCL Lockdown Challenge is a challenge posed to UCL sports clubs during lockdown 2.0 in the UK to keep people active and united in such a difficult time. The competing clubs have been challenged to run/walk 566 miles (the distance of a route that connects the birth places of four of UCL's most notable founders and alumni) in 3 weeks.
"There were great opportunities to collaborate with other students, and we were able to present a tangible solution to a defined problem"
Liyann Ooi is a Postgraduate student in MSc Health Psychology. This November, with a team of other passionate volunteers online, she helped our community partner Business Education Events find ways of digitising their in-person youth programme.
Volunteer and spread some festive cheer!
Get into the festive spirit with these volunteering opportunities over the winter break. Volunteering may look a little different this year but these charities still need support, spend a little time writing a letter or helping at a food bank, or take your volunteering into the new year!
