For me, sport is definitely a form of release. Over the years I’ve really appreciated not only its physical benefits but mental as well. Struggling with anxiety over the years, I’ve used sport as a method of grounding myself and my angst; it’s an indispensable method of quelling any worries.

For most of my school and throughout my university years, sport has always been a top priority. Both my parents were very active when they were younger, so they supported and encouraged me to get involved in as many teams as I wanted to.

Lacrosse has shaped both my school and university experiences so much. It has allowed me to meet so many wonderful people whilst maintaining my fitness - even if sometimes the weather was awful! It’s also made me very passionate about fitness, focusing a lot on my physical strength and conditioning and over the years - I’ve run multiple long-distance runs for charities (I was not into running at all when I was younger!).

I think in your formative years - sport is key for social and personal reasons, allowing you to meet new people as well as gain confidence and self-assurance.
