Hi I'm Hana, your newly-elected Welfare & Community Officer! As the Welfare & Community Officer, I am dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for every student at UCL. My role involves actively advocating for the diverse needs of international students, ensuring their voices are heard at all levels of the institution. I strive to create supportive initiatives and programs that enhance the overall student experience and promote a sense of belonging within our vibrant university community. I also work alongside the Advice Service as well as Hall Community Officers to ensure your wellbeing is the Union's top priority. I represent you by chairing the Welfare & Community Zone and and sitting on the Union Executive. |
My Manifesto
Read some of the highlights from my manifesto below:
Ensuring quality accommodation and UCL buildings through establishing standards used for assessing and inspecting living spaces, the introduction of prayer and meditation spaces in every accommodation and UCL building and A/C systems across buildings. |
Improving student skills to improve student life by holding workshops targeting key student concerns (confidence building, medical & mental first aid) to build their skills for the future. |
Improving the Quality of student life through gym discounts for Access Students, grace periods after assessment submission deadlines, divestment from arms companies, Breakfast Clubs and more mobility-needs lifts. |
Creating a legacy of celebrating UCL by allowing 2025 graduates to return after Main Quad renovation to hold a 'Portico' celebration. |
Sabbatical Officer Reports
Our Sabbatical Officers create a report every two weeks to inform our members. They believe that keeping everyone in the loop can foster a lively, supportive atmosphere where students feel encouraged to participate and share their ideas. These updates are a great way for them to share what's been happening, from their current projects to collaborations with different student groups, academic departments, and community organisations.
In each report, you can expect to find insights into the challenges they are tackling, the solutions they are implementing, and the positive impacts these efforts have on student life. From supporting engaging events and workshops to launching new programs that promote well-being and academic success, their initiatives are designed to enhance the overall campus experience.
Watch this space, Hana's reports will come in October!
Voting Record
As democratic leaders, all Sabbatical Officers must maintain transparency in their work. Below is a record of the voting on policies introduced during the academic year 2024-2025 and how Hana has voted. Please note that Sabbatical Officers do not participate in all Zones and, therefore, do not vote on every policy.
