What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Many postgraduate students, especially one-year master’s students, struggle with limited time to secure jobs. I will advocate for early-access career workshops, visa-specific job guidance, and networking sessions with employers who hire international graduates. Additionally, UCL lacks a centralized platform for PhD opportunities, scholarships, and RA positions. The existing job portal is insufficiently precise at the department level. I will work to develop a more structured, accessible platform to help postgraduates efficiently find research and funding opportunities.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

My leadership experience in student representation, event organization, and academic engagement makes me well-suited for this role. As Head of the Department of Studies in my undergraduate Student Union, I worked closely with faculty, organized academic mentorship programs, and improved student support services. My experience managing media operations strengthened my communication skills. Additionally, my multilingual background and deep understanding of international student challenges allow me to advocate effectively for a more inclusive, well-supported postgraduate community at UCL.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am committed to making real changes for postgraduates at UCL. I will improve job search support, especially for international students, and push for a better platform for PhD, scholarship, and RA opportunities. I will advocate for enhanced PGTA conditions, dedicated study spaces, and more interdisciplinary research collaborations. My leadership experience, multilingual background, and understanding of postgraduate challenges make me a strong voice for students. Vote for me to ensure postgraduates get the support, resources, and representation they deserve.

Seth Harris (he/they)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My priorities are:

🎓Lobby UCL for a postgrad fee discount for our UCL graduates - If LSE, Bristol and St Andrews can do it, why cant we?

🎉Revive the social experience at UCL- More one-off  events for postgrad and returning students. You shouldnt have to pay £50 in membership fees just to have a social life.

💼Jobs, jobs, jobs- UCL grads are the brightest and best, it shouldn't be hard for us to get jobs. More careers guidance and workshops for both postgrads and undergrads.

📱Overhaul the Union's digital services- The Union website is a mess and I will personally fix it even if it kills me.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

🗣️A voice of reason on the trustee board - I’ve been raising our questionable connections to Barclays at board meetings, and pushing for a review.  Elect me alongside other progressive sabb officers to get this dealt with once and for all.

♻️A Green Voice on activities zone - I wrote policy aimed at cutting connections with fossil fuel companies.  I’ll be the most low carbon sabb ever.  Thats a promise.

🙋 Promoting a stronger Student Voice in the SU -  I’ve backed open voting records for officers, and was behind the idea of a new SU petitions website.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

This year, sabbatical officers have spent their time racking up a massive carbon footprint on pointless international trips and abstaining on policy, all the while the quad closure and rising tuition fees makes a strong sabb team more important than ever in advocating for students on campus.

If you're happy with how things are going, then don't vote for me. Re-elect the current sabb team.

But if you want a sabb who’s sick of the status quo and has the experience and vision to hit the ground running then the choice is clear.

Seth for Students.  Seth for Sabb
