Rish Sali

Hi everyone, my name is Rish and I'm running for Mentorship programme executive.

I am standing for this position because I am passionate about the mission and values of the society and believe that I have the skills and experience needed to help make next year even more successful than the current.

As an active member of the medtech society, I've attended the various conferences held this year and am also part of the current mentorship programme. I've seen first-hand the positive impact that the various events and programmes have on those who participate in them. This has helped give me a clear direction for where this society can be further taken:

1. Increase the number of mentors and mentees in the program: Reach out to more professionals in the industry and encourage them to become mentors.
2. Strengthen the mentorship relationship: Provide more opportunities for mentors and mentees to meet, such as in-person meetings, online seminars, and other events.
3. Improve the program’s visibility: Host more events and workshops to help spread the word about the program. Work with local media outlets to promote the program.
4. Provide additional resources: Offer additional resources to mentees, such as webinars.

I am excited to take on this challenge so I ask for your vote so that I can bring my vision and dedication to this important role. Thank you for your consideration.

Sarrah Lokhandwala

Hey everyone! My name is Sarrah and I'm a 2nd year Biomedical Science student, running for Mentorship Programme Executive for MedTech society.

Attending several MedTech events this year, including the AI in Medicine conference, has left me with a deep appreciation for not only the remarkable field of technology in medicine, but more so for the platform that MedTech society provided me with to delve into it. My fascination for the scope this field offers, coupled with my knowledge of biomedicine, motivates me to be part of this society in a way that would allow me to share this with others. I recognise the way in which the Mentorship Programme brings together an experienced mind with a fresh, curious one, and as Mentorship Programme Executive, I would love to support and contribute to this. I believe my experience in communication and event organisation as School Editor and Student Body President in high school gives me the skillset required for this position. As a proactive, outgoing, and hardworking person, I would offer a valuable hand in recruiting mentors from different fields to create a program that is even more holistic than it is already. As Mentorship Executive, I hope to introduce engaging and personalised activities for the mentor-mentee pairs, to make the experience as fruitful as possible.

Having been at the receiving end of the opportunities MedTech provides, Mentorship Executive would allow me to play a role on the other end of the spectrum, to give back!

Arman Athwal

Academic mentorship has played a massive role in my professional life, and I have been on both ends of the dynamic throughout my life. In my high school and undergraduate years, I received transformative guidance from unstructured mentorships, and my mentors are the definitive reason why I've succeeded in biomedical research and why I earned admittance to UCL’s PhD program in Medical AI. On the other hand, over the last 5 years I’ve also held structured mentor positions for younger students in several capacities. While I’ve personally served as a volunteer mentor, I have also led teams that designed STEM mentorship programmes to develop professional skills in high school and undergraduate university students. My mentorship style embodies a clear, personalized, and energetic communication style, and I would carry that into the work I would like to do for UCL MedTech’s Mentorship programme.
