As the person with the most anime watched in this society, I challenge anyone to beat me in my anime knowledge (as I am currently undefeated in the anime quizzes this year). Jokes aside I came to this society to make anime something more than just a hobby. More than just recommending anime to others. Being an events officer would be a perfect opportunity for me and the society and I will gladly use my vast knowledge in anime to create a positive change to the society.

Covid-19 has been hard on everyone. Regardless of this, those in the committee have done a great job in keeping this society active and alive. The big monthly events were both fun to attend and professionally done but there has been a lack of diverse weekly events. I will be the one who can change this.

From my previous experience in making anime quizzes at my secondary school, making more quizzes, such as jeopardy style quizzes, AMQs, or others (as I lack the space to discuss them), wouldn’t be an issue for me. If anything, I will enjoy making them. For online events I would like to make a change by having more watching events as this has been largely discontinued this year. I would also like to restart the UCL anime podcast and talk about a lot of anime related topics as it is my passion.

With my vast albeit useless knowledge, previous experiences, and passion, I believe I can be a great Events Officer.

John Hu

Hi everyone! This is John, otherwise known as Realzzz on Discord, and I’m running for Anime Society Events Officer (again) this year!

Through my first stint as Events Officer, I’ve understood the nitty-gritty of being a part of this large of a committee and community, from how to organize collaborations, to hosting large LAU events. For this year, I’ve helped out in many collaborations from the early on Ani-Pokésoc picnic, to many of the NSN events, Bear Society, Harry Potter, as well as organizing and leading a few LAU events, including leading activities during the Halloween event and organizing the bubble tea making in Maid Café. This experience is valuable for me continuing to make Anisoc as great as it is next year, and I’m sure I can do a better job next year as well!

For next year, I want to build on the current connections that Anisoc have, especially regarding NSN and LAU, and organize more events with them, which could potentially stretch beyond the designated days that we had planned. For just the society, more variety of events could be potentially hosted, with ideas like bowling, badminton and karaoke.

The transition from Discord to in-person events has been really smooth this year, and I aim to make sure the society can build on this momentum and become even better next year. I believe that my experience would be valuable for the committee next year, hence, please vote me for Events Officer next year!

Musab Rizwan-Ullah

Hi, my name is Musab, and I am a first-year Mathematics student.

When I think about the most enjoyable moments this year, I remember many of the Anisoc events that took place. From the Halloween event to the many quizzes and scribble games we had at the start of the year, I have had a blast participating in all of them.

I consider myself flexible and organised, and believe that I have problem-solving skills, all of which I regard as necessary skills to become one of the events officers.

I was given the opportunity to help with the Maid Café event, which made me realise that I wanted to do more than just attend events, I want to play a crucial role in developing and evolving events for Anisoc.

Here are some of the things I hope to accomplish:

  • Introduce more collaborations within the Niche Society Network and the LAU
  • Bake off/Shokugeki events
  • Sporty events (If you weebs are up to it)
  • Going to Restaurants
  • and of course, other suggestions that the members make

Anisoc has been one of the main highlights during my first year of Uni and I hope I can actively help by making the new members have as entertaining an experience as I did.
