Since social distancing regulations have been in place, we have been working alongside partners to promote safe volunteering opportunities that have helped students to meet new people, develop skills and deliver valuable support to charities and community originations in need. Although some of these roles have always been remote, many organisations have adapted their volunteering schemes.
As we settle into this new way of volunteering, we are finding many reasons to celebrate it, with greater flexibility on time and commitment, wherever you are you can get involved.

Tutoring and mentoring is a brilliant way of making lasting impact to a young person. There are lots of ways to get involved, take a look at roles from The Kid’s Network, Tutor Me and The Access Project.
Help tackle loneliness and isolation whilst brightening up someone’s day in a befriending volunteering role. Check out these roles from Sense, Leonard Cheshire, and Age UK.
Digital marketing and administrative roles have never been more important to community organisations, use your expertise in roles such as Communications Assistant, Social Media Officer and Content Writer.

Our top tips for online volunteering
Get in touch with community organisations that are advertising opportunities to find out more about the role using the ‘express interest’ button on the opportunity page. You don’t have to commit at this stage, but it may help to decide on the right opportunity for you.
How’s your Internet connection? Are you going to be volunteering using video calls, check that your set up for this and ask the charity what platforms they use.
Does the role require you to make phone calls? If so, check with the organisation about international calls, your provider charges and what their policy is.
