Salsa Outreach is a volunteering project by the UCL Salsa Society that shares the joy of dance with the wider community. After eight weeks of training with a salsa instructor, volunteers visit local charities and community groups to teach fun, inclusive dance sessions for people of all ages and abilities. It’s about connection, confidence, and giving back through movement. 💃
Last year we volunteered with AgeUK, this year we are looking to expand the number of partnership organisations. Our goal is to reconnect with the elderly, carers and/or children and deliver several fun salsa sessions. 💃
As a volunteer, you don't need to worry about your level of salsa, this is just for our teacher to better structure our training course. We are looking for volunteers that are passionate about dancing and are excited to spread their love for salsa.
Book at ticket for this event to sign up for the program! Once you have booked it, please send us an email with the following information:
- Why would you like to volunteer with us (no answer is too silly!)
- Why do you think you would be suited as a Volunteer for our Outreach program?
- Have you volunteered before? (not necessarily salsa)
- What is your level of salsa? ( beginner, improver, intermediate, advanced)
- How confident are you in your public speaking skills on a scale of 1 to 5 ( 5 being very confident)? Helps the instructor tailer the program appropriately.
What this role involves:
1. Attending training sessions to improve your salsa and learn teaching methods.
2. Teaching salsa to partner organisations/charities as organised by our project leads.
3. Practicing and teaching salsa to other UCL societies.
