🧠Join us for an exciting Journal Club session led by Ms. Heba Elsallab, a PhD student in the Department of Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology and the Institute of Healthy Ageing at University College London.
Her research investigates how synaptic and mitochondrial genes contribute to Alzheimer's disease, using Drosophila melanogaster (fruit flies) and Mus musculus (house mice) and applying genetic screens and molecular biology and histological techniques, with a view to therapeutic approaches.
Here's what you can look forward to!
- Hear directly from a PhD researcher about cutting-edge approaches to studying neurodegeneration, from pathogenesis to treatment
- Learn how model organisms help reveal the genetic and cellular mechanisms underlying human disease
- Ask your questions about PhD life, postgraduate study and careers in academia during our Q&A - a unique opportunity to network and gain advice
This event forms part of our broader focus on neuroscience and genetics this term. The Genetics Journal Club runs every two weeks, featuring researchers from across UCL and beyond to help you explore key areas of genetics.
We hope to see you there!
