Find out more:
- What do networks do?
Networks act as social and influencing groups for students, allowing you to meet other like-minded people, form and build your communities, and have your say on how the Students' Union UCL can better represent you!
- How are they run?
Networks are student-run and led. Every year, a team of student leaders elected by you in March. They have the opportunity to lead and grow their student network, making sure it represents the needs and interests of those within their respective communities.
- How do they represent me?
Each student network represents a community that we acknowledge has been underrepresented within UCL, and the higher education sector overall. Networks allow students to have their say on things that affect their communities and determine how the Union and University can best meet your needs. Your elected officers will attend Union and University meetings on behalf of the network, representing your interests and concerns.
- How can I get involved?
Find your network here! Networks are open to all taught and research students who self-identify with the respective group. Networks are free to join and you can join as many networks as you like, as long as you self-identify within the respective community.
If you have any questions or suggestions, drop us an email on [email protected] and we can discuss how we can support you and your network at UCL!
Communities and Groups that we support:
UCL has a diverse student body of 50,000 students. Our eight Student Networks are diverse and inclusive spaces, but we recognise that our students have multiple identities and interests so it is important that we embrace intersectionality. Below is a list of additional communities and groups which might be of interest to you.
- AFFA - Academics for Future Academics
Students with disabilities often face significant barriers when pursuing academic careers. We are creating a network to connect students with disabilities to experienced academics who have navigated similar paths. This network will facilitate mentorship programmes, connecting students with academics who can offer guidance on navigating academic challenges, securing research opportunities and building professional networks.

- QTPOC Network
The QTPOC (Queer, Trans, People of Colour) Network is a decolonial space for queer and/or trans people of the global majority at UCL. Our values and events are rooted in creative self-expression, compassion, and community-building, fostering collective healing as well as constructive action. We aim to liberate ourselves from the politics and ideologies that seek to erase and dehumanise our community through critical reflection, horizontal dialogue, and constructive action.
- Intersectional Forum
For the first time this academic year, our Equity & Inclusion Officer, Eda, is organising Intersectional Forums to discuss ideas, events and collaborations which could involved multiple Student Networks. Intersectional Forums are free to attend for all students!
