The International Students' Network supports the development of an engaging, dynamic and rewarding community of international students and represent the needs and interests of international students within the Union.

As the International Students' Officer, I Manaal Tariq believe in appreciating everyone's unique journey. Our activities this year and last have been centred around ensuring a seamless transition to university life, fostering an inclusive community, and creating a positive and enjoyable campus experience.

We are proud to have:

  • Established an International Students' Network which represents the interests of the largest student community on campus.
  • Improved and grown the International Students' Festival to become one of the largest celebrations of cultural diversity on campus.
  • Partnered with Educating Beyond Borders to launch Foodie Fridays- an initiative extremely close to my heart, aiming to help students with the increasing cost of well-being. Our joint efforts have boosted numbers of students receving this benefit.
  • Passed a policy providing the International Students' Officer with voting rights on all Students' Union Zones and the Union Executive to ensure the international student viewpoint is heard!
  • Conducted events focusing on student career, skills, and various other aspects of student life and wellbeing.
  • Established and grown an extremely active social media presence for the network!
  • Nominated a committee of Regional Representatives last year who helped curate the student experience through various policy suggestions and more.
  • Fostered strong connections like one with the Dalian University of Technology, China to promote global collaboration and provide students with summer opportunities.
  • Conducted a Late Students' Orientation to allow students who arrived late because of visa issues to settle into university life.

We are a continually growing community and are proud to have worked so closely with the international students for the past two years!
